In September a group of middle aged colleagues from the Zurich Sales team will be getting on our bikes to take on the challenge of 300 miles in 3 days from London to Paris to raise money for charity. Our route takes us from London, to Portsmouth where we will take the ferry to Caen and commence our long trek ‘en velo’!

Our motivation for this is 2-fold. We want to slow the aging and weight gaining process without joining ‘Weight Watchers’ and more importantly raise £25,000 for Zurich Community Trust, our staff-led charity fund and 3 other causes close to the hearts of our team members (The Elizabeth Foundation, Great Ormond Street, Adams Appeal).

Zurich Community Trust aims to help the most disadvantaged in our communities live more independent and fulfilling lives. Each year staff raise over £500,000, and this is matched by Zurich. There are 6 national partner charities (ChildLine, Marie Curie, Canine Partners, Calvert Trust, Hope and Homes for Children and Foundation for Conductive Education) and also regional grant programmes ensuring that the money raised reaches those in our local communities.

The money you pledge to us for our challenge will be split as follows: Zurich Cares will receive 50%, with the other 50% being 50% matched by Zurich Community Trust, then being passed to The Elizabeth Foundation, Great Ormond Street, Adams Appeal.

In order to raise as much money as possible, we need to keep our expenses to a minimum and this is why I’m hoping you can help us with our Challenge.

We would be really grateful if you would sponsor our efforts and can assure you that every penny that we raise from our Challenge, including the 50% matching element from Zurich, will be spent on making disadvantaged people’s lives better. We would be delighted to update you on our London to Paris Cycle Challenge, once we return.

We hope that you can help us. For further information on the Zurich Community Trust visit www.zurich.org.uk.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
